All right, this has been in place since back in December, but I didn’t wrap up the final details until earlier this week. Now that I have, I feel comfortable sharing. Along with a number of other authors and agents and editors, I am going to be one of the guests this year at the University of New Mexico Continuing Education Writer’s Conference: From Start to Sales VI.
The conference administrators will fly me out on April 23rd, the conference takes place on 24th, and I go back home on the 25th. In addition to airfare, the conference will also take care of food (including a “nice dinner”–yum!) and board, and I get a nice little stipend for taking part in the conference. As to conference itself, I’ll be speaking on a Q&A panel comprising four editors and three agents. I’ll also be taking part in one-on-one ten minute meetings with authors who want to tell me about their manuscripts or show me their query letters. But I don’t have to take anything home. I guess it’s the equivalent of literary speed dating.
All in all, it should be fun. And I’ve never been to New Mexico before, so why in the world wouldn’t I go?
