The April 2010 issue of RoF has been reviewed by Rich Horton in the April 2010 issue of Locus. Here is the review in its entirety:
April’s Realms of Fantasy has a strong M.K. Hobson story, “The Hag Queen’s Curse”, in which a Warlock and a magical “hide-pirate” from an alternate 18th-century America are cursed by the Hag Queen and end up in 20th-century Portland, where they encounter different sorts of hags and queens: an amusing story, with with particularly nicely drawn contemporary characters. I also enjoyed Christopher Kastensmidt’s “The Fortuitous Meeting of Gerard Van Oost and Oludara”, set in Brazil, in which Van Oost frees Oludara from slavery. This is a sort of origin story, and so we get to see each hero perform one heroic (and clever) feat, setting up further adventures for the pair.
