Gardner Dozois’ Year’s Best Science Fiction 27 is now on sale, which covers the best science fiction published in 2009. In the Honorable Mentions section, in addition to science fiction, he also singles out fantasy stories he finds worthwhile. I don’t have a copy of the book just yet, but a little online searching has revealed to me that nine Realms of Fantasy stories were given honorable mentions:
–”Digging for Paradise” by Ian Creasey
–”Healing Benjamin” by Dennis Danvers
–”Tio Gilberto and the Twenty-Seven Ghosts” by Ben Francisco
–”Sails Above Greensea” by Adam Corbin Fusco
–”Joy is the Serious Business of Heaven” by David Levine
–”The River of Three Crossings” by Richard Parks
–”Narrative of a Beast’s Life” by Cat Rambo
–”Flower Fairies” Kristine Kathryn Rusch
–”Name Day” by Garth Upshaw
–”Red Dirt Kingdom” by Jay Lake
Congrats to all! You’ve done RoF proud!
