Realms of Fantasy Forum

The Realms of Fantasy Forum is live now in a ‘public beta’ mode—what this means is that the forum works, we would love for you to come in and start some conversations, and that we’ll be working on the look and feel, and on functionality, as we go forward. The forum will open in a new window, so just close that window if you want to get back to the main site. (That’s one of the things we’ll be changing by the way!) Please read our rules before creating an account and posting though; the rules are mostly common sense, but it’s best to read through them to avoid any unpleasantness.

Letters to the Editor

Whether you’re a subscriber to Realms of Fantasy, or a writer or artist interested in contributing to the magazine, we welcome and appreciate any and all feedback. Realms of Fantasy is re-instating its “Letters the the Editor” section, and you can email Shawna McCarthy at realmsoffantasy@aol.com any comments you might wanted to see posted on this site. Not all letters to the Editor will be published, but they will all be read and considered.

I’m curious about how to submit a book for review. The first book in my urban fantasy trilogy, The Vampire Hunters, will be published on 19 March, and I was hoping to have it reviewd or mentioned in RoF. Please let me know what procedures I need to undertake in that regard. Thanks.

I checked out your blog and saw that it will be an e-book. I’m afraid we don’t consider e-books for review.

I have been interested in Realms of Fantasy since long before I came to college. While here, I have gotten into the English department, as well as become the Editor in Chief of my university’s literary magazine. I can’t describe how much I love the job, and while perusing the website a few days ago, it occurred to me that Realms of Fantasy is an awesome magazine, and I think I would really get involved in a job there. I still have another year till I graduate, but I figured that I couldn’t start too early, and since the ‘Contact’ section of this website is dedicated to submissions, I decided to post here. Thanks!

We appreciate your interest very much, but I’m afraid we keep a pretty small staff here at the magazine, and our editorial department in particular is rather firmly entrenched. We’re toying with the idea of bringing aboard a second website assistant, but as with the first one, I’m afraid that will be a volunteer position.

I really enjoy Bear’s book review column. She sold me on the latest Jim Butcher book in the August issue.

Do you allow new writers to make their mark? If so, where to I find your writer’s guidelines?

I was hoping someone could help me out. A while ago I read a series of books about 2 adopted sisters (1 was murdered) that had some mythical/magical background. One main part of the book took place in a book store with a vampire (I think) owner. I think the bookstore was something and Baubles. Anyways the books also had elves that made you a sex addict, dimentional travel and creatures called Rhino boys. If anyone knows the title of these books or the author I would love to re read and finish the series.

Sorry no clue. Maybe someone else will read this who can help you.

I’d like to point out that I have yet to receive my Feb issue, let alone see hide nor hair of the April magazine. Is there someone there who I can hit over the head with a baseball bat to remind them about honouring subscriptions?

Editor Douglas Cohen March 25, 2011 at 11:09 am

The April issue hasn’t shipped yet, though that should be happening soon. As to the February issue, here is the contact info for customer service:

Email: support@rofmag.com
Phone: 707-595-4738

If you call them, they’re on Pacific time.
